Christmastime mistletoe and wine

We put our Christmas tree up at the weekend. Its massive, my dad must have picked the fattest one in the shop. I just love the smell of them, gets me in a festive mood. There is just something special about a real Christmas tree isn't there? I wasn't really that fussed about the big day until we put the tree up and now I can see all the presents its getting me excited!
I have actually been really good so far, usually I have a feel of all my presents, Im not one for surprises! But Ive managed to stay away. There just seems to many for me too look through and I can't be bothered!
I can tell its Christmas too by my cold i've come down with. My sinus' always make a special appearance at this time of year and its always a week before deadline day which is terrfic. Im not too worried about handing my work, Ive actually been quite organised this year and have done most of it, just waiting for lecturers to hand back the drafts so I can correct whatever needs doing which hopefully wont be too much! Im trying to motivate myself to complete my reflective essay today while eating a pile of chocolate that my brownies brought me.

Haha you can see a bit of my reflection in that decoration!

This is the extent of Christmas decorations in my room. It used to be my Grandads and sings wiggling it bum when it has batteries in it! My room is not very festive looking! Although I have spotted a cloth Merry Christmas vintage style banner in Next that I fancy stringing from the shelves. I might treat myself, will only work out £7.50 with discount.

Once again thank you to all the new followers. I still cant believe that eight people are interested in what I do. Big hug to everyone!

Music Monday - Your like a Journalist, the way you cut and paste and twist

I know this is not fashion but a lot of fashion is influenced by music non?
Anyway im going to feature a new band ive discovered, a guilty pleasure or just one of my favourite bands that I can listen to over and over again every Monday.
First up is one of my all time favourites:

The Libertines
I know there has been a lot of negative press about Peter Doherty, to be honest most of the time he deserves it, and this overshadows the band. There was a time where I would defend him to death but now hes had two many second chances. Lots of people already have their opinions made up about "druggy pete" but they should forget all that and just listen to the music. He is an amazing songwriter and some lyrics are just divine. "There are fewer more distressing sights than that of an Englishman in a Baseball cap" ranks right at the top of my list.

After listening to both albums on repeat and trawling the internet for demos and EPs, I finally got the chance to see them live at Reading this summer after 6 years of waiting. Oh it was an emotional time. I stood watching them with a lump in my throat, loving the interaction between Pete and Carl. The twosome were finally back together again.
Thanks to Meg I can now attach a video :) Enjoy, here is up the Bracket. One of my favourites.

I really want one of those red military jackets.

Tis the season to be jolly

It was the work christmas do last night and it was a free bar, So naturally I took full advantage if this, so much so that my manager commented on me drinking the bar dry. Well Im a student so im all over free things. It was a brilliant night, we went to a Greek restaurant in town. I must have spent the whole time on the dance floor according to the photos posted on facebook. I never realised what silly faces I pull while dancing!

Anyway I wore my beloved leather shorts out. I was more excited about wearing these for the first time than I was the fact I was going out intially haha! They are my new favourite things and im already putting together outfits that I can wear next time im invited out that include the beauties.
Ive tried to show you the pussy bow in the blouse but its not turned out too successful!

Horseshoe Blouse: Primark

Leather Shorts: Topshop

Tights: Primark

Shoes: New Look

Charm bracelet: Links of London

Nail Varnish: Rimmel

I havent got a picture of my shoes because I was taking it from a funny angle they all looked like I has thunder thighs! But I wore my black wedges from New Look that I have featured a few posts down.

1 Christmas party down and 4 to go!

Fashion Icon Friday

I thought I would start a few regular features so not all my posts sound the same. Throw a little imagination out there.

So I came up with Fashion Icon Friday (I've got others but we are not on the right day) where I post lots of pretty pictures and write about fashion icons that have been inspiring me recently.
Carey Mulligan is an English actress, most famous for her role in An Education where she was a BAFTA award in 2009. She was also nominated for a golden globe and an Oscar. She frequently appears in best dressed lists for her vintage inspired style and cute pixie crop. Her most recent film was Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps which she starred in with Michael Douglas and Shia LaBI am a huge dress fan, over 50 and counting, and this girl gives me major dress envy. She always looks so naturally beautiful. She never has the make up caked on and never has too much flesh on show. She is pure elegance. I much prefer her with the pixie crop than her longer hair, I wish I was brave enough to go for the chop. She just as good in her casual attire as she does when she scrub up on the carpet. An amazingly talented actress and a fashion icon, some women have it all!

This is my favourite dress. The pleats, colour and length all make me drool. Its the perfect dress and would look amazing hanging up in my wardrobe!

All images are from various sources on google.

Also id like to say a quick hello and thank you to my new followers. I know five is not ground breaking but its made me so happy to think someone enjoys my ramblings! Thank you very much!

Just another girl who is going to rule the world.

Ok so I am finally getting over my hangover from Friday night, yes you read that correctly my hangover has lasted 3 days. Its tragic and wrecked my diet as all I have is eat junk food in an attempt to feel normal. Really must get into the swing of healthy living again tomorrow.

But here is another attempt at an outfit post. Again it is in my room which is again cluttered. I feel a tad embaressed asking my mum to take pictures of me while I pose and I can never position the camera right so that I can get a whole outfit shot. But I am trying, hopefully Ill get it right! I would be greatful for any tips! I also feel ever so awkward posing, not at all a natural. I envy anyone who can work the camera!

This is what I wore out Friday night, I had to go to work the next day on four hours sleep which was not fun at all.

Please ignore the dress hanging up ready for work the next day!

Just for clarification the bra is a nude colour, not white! I dont want people to think I wear white bras under black, its my pet hate haha! But I needed a strapless bra and its the only one I had!

What I wore:
One armed rouched body - Next
Tulle skirt - Next
Tights- Primark
Cameo braclet - Market
Shoes - Next

This is one of my best friends who I went out with. Isnt she beautiful? Its always a lethal combination when we go out, our boyfriends panic! You always have to have a token wetherspoons toilet shot. I am looking extremely happy because I was on my second bottle of wine at this point! It ws starting to take effect!

November Purchases

So this week was my beloved payday, it took long enough. So of course I treated myself a little bit, im getting christmas presents too so im not being entirely selfish. Also now Ive laid them out ive noticed everything is black. I tend to stay away from black in the winter, I find it makes me even more gloomy.

Here are my beauties!

Black leather shorts - Topshop. I finally got these beauties ive been lusting over for 6 weeks. Never really had the money but I thought sod it this month, just have to not drink as much when I go out. I adore them, I have already found so much in my wardrobe to wear with them. I feel they may have to be surgically removed ill be wearing them so much.

Black faux suede wedges - New Look. These were a complete bargain, £18 with my student discount. I really needed a pair of new black shoes, I was wearing the same ones out time and time again feeling like a right old skank.

Black Satchel - Charity shop. I finally brought a satchel like I was banging on about in the last post. I was doing my daily visit after college to the local charity shop and grabbed it straight away. Its such a nice size to fit all my junk in and real leather for £6. How could you go wrong!

Black rose suspender tights - Next. Id had been waiting for these to come into our shop ever since I saw them in Look. We dont usually get the stuff in the magazine due to us not being a huge huge shop. I thought I might have to trek to London. But I spotted them last week and made sure I put some on hold. Im never very good for tights, only get one wear before my clumsiness rips a massive hole in them. I try to only buy Primark tights because then its not so much a waste of money. These were a fiver so its more than I usually spend but got staff discount which was a plus. Ive included a close up so that you can see the pretty rose detail.

Back to school

I have been productive today honestly, Ive completed a presentation for tomorrow and organised all my uni folders doing all the little fiddly bits. But that does not mean I havent been browsing the internet imagining what I would buy should I have the money. This seems to be happening rather a lot recently, I really dont know why I torture myself!
I adore Satchals, I dont have any admittingly but I love them nevertheless. Im really bad at buying bags, prefer to spend all my wages on dresses. The Mullberry Alexa is my favourite but alas the price just mocks me.
Ive found this one online at Esty by a seller called frenchenglish and fell in love.

Isnt it divine? I love the scalloped edges, it looks so romantic. I feel like I should be in an Enid Blyton book going to boarding school. The colour isnt the most practical but its so pretty! It will jazz up any outfit, adding a little pop colour. I like patent leather so much more than just normal leather, I think it looks more classy. I need it. At £65 its not too expensive but still its far too high for my delicate bank balance. I need to have a rumage around and figure out what to sell on ebay.

You sound like your from Landan

So here I am still recovering from Saturday night in Camden, probs doesnt help ive just polished off a bottle with the bestest tonight, but hey ho! I must be getting old, its not normal that hangovers last 2 days. I blame the lack of sleep.
Here is my first attempt at a proper outfit post, i fear i look like a idiot but you know needs must and all that. Im asking for you all not to jusge me ha!
Please ignore the extremely cluttered bedroom!

The rundown:

Playsuit: Next. I love the fact that the florals can be used for any season, both summer and winter colours. Pain in the bum to go to the toilet in though, not a good drunk option!

Shoes: Next £7. Good old discount and voucher won in a competition got me these bargains. I need a new pair though

Tights: Primarni £1

Velvet Jacket: Topshop £45. One of the best buys ever, brought about 5 years ago and still going strong. I love how it jazzs up any outfit.

Brooch: Stolen from the mother

Nail Varnish: Nails inc, free with this months glamour. Nails Inc is the only nail varnish that does not chip on me after an hour. Not too keen on the price though!

Winter warmer

This charity gem passes the handbag by, I am offically in love. I have been after a chunky knit baggy jumper since september, saw one in Topshop but alas I could not find the £48 to buy it. Seems to be the story of my life recently.
I was trying to waste some time during my lunch hour at Uni as you do and thought id pop into my favourite charity shop to see if I could find any bargains. After picking up a shoe shaped soap from the V&A museum and trying on a fur coat for ages umming and ahhing on wether I could actually afford the £20 (decided against it, I need the money for alcohol at the weekend), I spied a cream woolly arm. Lo and behold it was a chunky knit baggy jumper not too different from the topshop version and for only £3.55! It has brown speckles in it which wasent really what I was after buy hey I can afford to buy another one when i see it at this price.

Please dont mind me modelling it, Ive just finished Uni and look a tad rough but I think it looks so much better on than it does off! Ive just realised that this photo makes me look consipated, oh well not everyone can be good with having their photo taken!

Isnt it a beaut?

Im going to attempt a full outfit post on Saturday, been reading far too many blogs and wanna do one myself! It is suppose to be about fashion after all!

Charity shop gem

I have been reading a lot of blogs recently, maybe too many since I have Uni work to do. I have been trying to balance them out.
I keep coming across of these girls that find some gems in charity shops and car boots. Im always in a charity, never usually find much at all apart from some books. I can also never find anything cheap, I dont know what sort of charity shops sell things for £3, the ones around here must be the selfridges of charity shops.
I feel like im constantly on the look out for that special purchase. I want my very own gem.
Well I think I found it on Wednesday.
Its no secret that I enjoy dressing like a throw back from the past, I dont dress exactly how I want due to the looks and stares you get in this chavvy town but im getting braver as im older.
This bag is a beaut, its in perfect condition and just the right size. It reminds me of a bag I would see my great nan with every christmas. I have been on the look out for one for ages, keep bidding on ebay but they go too high for my liking.
I am so happy with it, used it everyday since. A mere bargain at £5.99. Its worth every penny.

Vintage delights

Now I must admit when someone mentions Colleen Rooney, she does not strike me as someone who I would look to as a fashion Icon. Give her credit though, she has come a long way from those yellow moon boots. They actually made me throw up a little in my mouth.

But this dress, oh this is a beauty. A lot of critics slated it and said she was too young to wear it, its made her look frumpy yadda yadda. But I think its divine for those very reasons, I love the fact it looks frumpy, like a throwback from the past and something that my nan might have worn in her heyday. I love everything about it, the colour, the frills at the bottom, the pleats to be honest I could go on and on.

Im going to make it my mission to find one while im on my travels to vintage and charity shops. A dress like this is right up my street.

I wouldnt mind a pair of Louboutins like Colleen either if im honest. Id change the bag though, something just doesnt look right with it.

Mile High

I want a flying jacket.

Realistically I cant afford the Burberry version as beautiful as it is, my wages cannot stretch to that. Hell I cant even stretch to the Topshop one. I maybe could have done pre Beatrice but now she takes all my money. If this is what a real child is like, ill pass thanks.

Ive found a gorgeous one in H&M, granted its not leather. I do love leather but beggers cannot be chosers. The price tag is only £24.99. Bargain. I wold ideally like one with sheepskin round the cuffs as well and in brown. But this is the best one I can find for the money. Someone at Uni has it and it looks divine on.

It might very well have to be a purchase when I get paid. I need to treat myself for losing half a stone right?

Lets hope Westfield has one in stock on the 30th.

Slacker

I really do need to pay more attention to this blog. Well over a month till the last update, shocker! Not that many people are that interested in my life.

So much has happened over this past month, Ive barely had time to stop and think.

First up I finally own my own set of wheels. Beatrice, my beautiful green corsa. Oh i love her. She is such a beauty, proudest car owner alive! I love the freedom she gives me, i now longer have to beg for lifts. I can go any place anytime and dont have to justify it to anyone. The other week I had an arguement with the fella and I just stormed out and drove home. I came back 10 minutes later but still it felt good. Usually id have to sit there and sulk in his house for the entire night. Ill post some pictures of my lovely when I remember. Helen, my babeface, they will be especially for you :)

Secondly I am now a qualified Brownie Leader which means I can have a brownie pack in any place in the country. Slightly owrrying though that parents would trust me to look after their kids! I get my presentation soon. This is prehaps one of my proudest achivevments and yes I know how much this makes me look like a geek. Bothered!

Thirdly I spent a few days in Ireland visiting the other halfs family. I have completely and utterly fallen in love with that country. I love the people, the culture, the irish music in the pubs, the hills and the relaxed way of life. It was everything I expected and more. I cant wait to go back at Easter. I only wish I could have stayed longer.

Fourthly I am now back at dreaded Uni and my stress levels have already hit the roof. I cant wait for this year to be over and then its into the real world. Ill be doing a job that Ill have been dreaming off since i was 11. Hello Sophie Warner, the Journalist.

Now these, I really need these. They will so help me get my music Mojo back.

My low affair with High tops is back on.

Reading

Well wasnt Reading just the most fantastic experience in the world.

The Libertines were fucking out of this world. So good that they just needed a swear word in the sentence! It was so so emotional listening to them, they were the first proper band that I got into. I remember listening in my bedroom memorising every lyric when I was 14 and just falling completely in love with them. They were the terrible threes band, we knew every word and everything about their lives. It was worth the £180 just to see them. My new Libertines t shirt is not my pride and joy!

We are Scientists did not disappoint either, they rocked just like always. I love the banter that happens on stage. I really need to buy their second and third albums im living in the dark ages. Mystery Jets were amazing too, dying to find out when their next tour is even if its just to hear "after dark" live again. "Last Train Home" by Lostprophets gave me shivers, what a tune!

Reading has inspired me to start getting back into music. I used to spend every spare dollar I had buying NME and sourcing the internet for new up and coming bands. I wanted to find a band that no one else knew about. I used to go to gigs as often as I went to the loo. I cannot remember the last time Ive discovered a band, all the music i listen too is "old". The Strokes, Libertines and Bloc Party, I have religiously been in love with since I was 14. I want to fall madly in love with a new band.

From now on im going to start going to a lot more gigs and discover my music mojo.

Queen of Hearts

Alas why do I have to get paid the day before Reading, how will I spend my hard earned cash on ASOS.
As the summer is now over, the rain yesterday confirmed this wearing winter clothes in the middle of August is quite depressing, it is now time to start getting together a new winter wardrobe starting with this.
I do love a long cardigan, I love anything that conceals my behind from view. I love the colours in this, Its very Alice in Wonderland. My thoughts immediately went to the Queen of Hearts. Not a bad price really at £32, ive paid more. Hmmm might have to be a purchase when I come back off Reading.

An essential

I would like these for Reading please.

Hello Reading ticket

My summer has got 1000 times better, I can deal with all the shit ive been having because I, Sophie Louise Warner, has managed to get hold of a 2010 Reading Ticket. Hello Libertines!

I am beyond excited and to make it better I am properly camping this time, no hire tent, in the campsites will all the hardcore ravers. I dont want to sleep in fact I wont count it as a success unless I come stumbling home at silly hours and throw up at least once from the insane consumption of alcohol. It will be like Turkey 2009 except on home soil.

Ahhhh The Libertines, my first love. The first proper real music I got into alongside the strokes. Ive waited 6 years to see them grace the stage, that is worth the £180 alone. Im praying and begging that Skaghead Pete will turn up and allow me to be absoulutely crazy to "Dont Look back into the Sun." Otherwise I might just turn terroist and firebomb his house?

Blink 182, "All the small things" = Awesome
LostProphets, "Last train home" = Immense
Dizzee Rascal, "Bonkers" = Insane
The Futureheads, "Hounds of Love" = Best song ever
The Maccabees, " About your dress" = Love love!

Complete highlight of 2010!

Bigger boys and stolen sweethearts

Im having a major Arctic Monkeys revival. Since their new stuff has come out, ive been put off. Its just not hitting the target in my opinion. I was disapointed. The second one was ok but nothing will ever top the first album.

Fake tales of San Francisco cam on the Itunes shuffle and ive fallen back in love. One biggest regret is that I never took up the chance of seeing them before they hit the big time, tickets were only a fiver. Bands are always better in intimate venues rather than big arenas.

Absolutely Gutted

I am so upset, I got my results back from Uni today for my second term. 1% off a first in Politics. 1%! I feel sick. I got a first in my exam and 2:1 in my essays. The mother says I should be proud blah blah. But I just think if i worked that little harder I would have got a first, although I made myself ill doing all the work I did anyway. I dont like getting second best I never have. Cant help but be a bit disapointed.

On the plus side I did get a first for my shorthand module. Dont ask me how, I bloody hate the subject. It is the bane of my life! I got a 2:1 for my photography module which really is a miricle considering that my photography teacher was useless and didnt really have a clue about what she was teaching us. People shouldnt take second jobs if they dont have the time to commit to them.

Overall sitting on a 2:1. Now the work begins to try and push it up to a first with my dissertation next year. I dont even know if thats possible but I hope it is. It would make my life if i graduated with a first from University.

Driving in my car

I bloody passed my driving test, I finally did it! Its feels absolutely amazing, I had a feeling that it might take forever but Im pretty pleased with 3 times. Fairly respectable! Ahhhh I feel so good! When the examiner told me I let out a little scream of delight! So looking forward to going car shopping with good old dad at the weekend! I want a car now!
I desperately want a Figaro. It would suit me down to the ground, completely what I imagine myself in. I want a blue one and I shall name it Albert!

Now lets hope the good luck will continue for tomorrow for the dreaded PA exam, the driving test was 3rd time lucky and I hope the exam will be too!

I want to be a millionaire

I need this.

This is such a beauty. Reminds me of the sort of thing that Nicole Richie wears. I would wear it exactly how the model has, with brown wooden wedges. It looks like ive spent hours digging round in vintage shops in Brick lane. Good old ASOS.

I love maxi dresses and really really want one. Its just the price tag that does not allow me. Most are in the £50-£60 price range and the snob in me wants a good quality one. This one in particular is £65, ouch. Thats a third of my wages, how depressing.

I never buy anything of ASOS. I constantly on it when I have zero pence and thinking ooooh ill get that on payday. Yet whenever I get paid I get fair to excited and start shopping up the town and never get as far as the internet. I wish I had more self control, I have a feeling I would have much better clothes.

Retail Therapy

5 glorious pounds lost, should have really been more but I have had a cold for the last week and been wallowing in self pity so have not be as strict on the food front as I should have! But still I am happy with 5 pounds in two weeks, next week Im going for it hardcore. Starting cycling again and determined to lose another 2 pounds, half a stone will do nicely!

I have brought a few things this month, not that I should have because I am actually skint. Although Im still going out tonight to see all the old favourites!
Anyway I went to lakeside last night, managed a bit of self control only spent 20 quid over my budget which aint bad I suppose.
First Purchase was a pair of brouges, wanted a pair for aggges for clearly not in the position to be able to spend £70 like Office want for a pair of shoes. Thats nearly half my monthly wage. But I found a white pair for 8 quid from Primarni! I love them, now I need a new set of summer dresses to wear them with! I also love how brown they make my legs look :)

This is my favourite purchase. I have no idea where and if I will use it but it was only £6 so what the hell! I love straw, it just screams summer to me and I get so excited when I used a straw bag because it means im on holiday. I love the pillar box red colour and think it goes really well with the nautical theme, I own quite a lot of navy. Its such a beaut! It aso has a chain handle which gets me everytime, I like to pretend I own a piece of Chanel.

I brought this lace shirt at the beginning of May I think, anyway Ive had it ages but been after a belt to help pull it in at the waist. I wanted one with a gold buckle so that I could pile up the trashy gold jewellery. Finally found one in Primark and, although it cant be seen in the picture, it is a chain belt. I love this outfit, in fact im wearing it tonight, but the mother isnt keen, said she thought it was an odd combination. Ive got it on with a black body and black body con skirt, I was going to add some spotty tights to it.

I went in Zara for the first time, ive always thought it was for a more older crown. But I loved it, could easier have spent at least £100 but alas I didnt have that much money. Its not as expensive as I thought it would be either. I brought this skirt on the understanding that because it was demin it would go with everything and be a sound investment but alas everything that I tried on with it looked shit! Ive worked out that only a white vest top goes with it so im going to invest in some different white tops. I want a bandeau white body and a topshop frilled rose print white vest top. I really liked the brouges with the skirt but got told it didnt go.

This is the dress I brought when I borrowed the £11. I still need to give that back actually, mental note to get it out tonight! Its a Dorothy Perkins dress but I got it out of choice. I think it looks really vintage and classic, it a really nice length. I dont like short things in bare legs, mine arnt the best to show off. Give me tights though and the shorter the possible. Tights must be the best invention. I want a cropped bleached demin jacket to wear over the top and a pair of white espadrilles. Next on the wish list I think.

Im still ummin and arring over this skirt. I really like it and it would be great for when I have work experience at the school but I think it makes me look huge. Everyone says it does not but im not sure because it is flarey it still out at my hips, my problem areas. I tried it on in my normal size but got told it looked too big so I got the size down but I dont know if this looks too small. I think I have the wrong top on in this picture, I needed to wear my body so I get a smooth line. I think the vest top is adding to the fatness. If only I was a skinny minnie! You can really see the colours in this image, they are a lot more vibrant.
