My head seems to go to the side on its own when I pose haha!

Not a very exciting outfit today. I have worked all week so all my outfits this week have been uniform. This is what I wear to work! I am doing 26 hours this week, my usual contract is 10.5 so I am shattered. How will I cope with a full time job? Luckily I have the whole of next week off so it will be coursework, coursework and coursework. Much needed to be honest! I think this dress is a bit maternity like but it is so comfortable which is what I'm looking for when I am on my feet all day.

Not much to report for this week, pretty boring and its not going to be getting anymore exciting. I am offically broke, no more socialising for me! But I have The Wombats on Monday in Hammersmith which is pretty exciting. Luckily I have saved a little money for this! I am really looking forward to it, the last gig (well festival) I went to was Reading back in August. Agggges ago!

My gorgeous leopard print dress that I won on ebay arrived yesterday. I cannot wait to wear it once it has had a good wash. Its a lot brighter than it seemed in the pictures but i'm happy with it. Its such a nice length and the peter pan collar is so cute! I also recieved my OPI Thanks so Muchness nail varnish, I have been after it for ages and now want to buy the rest of the Alice in Wonderland set.

Hope your week has been a lot more exiting than mine! Hello to all my new followers :) Would be nice to speak to you so don't be afraid to comment! I am on twitter as @sophiesophuk too if any of you fancy a chat!

Second hand treasures

Over this past week the charity/car boot gods have been shining down on me! I have got some amazing goodies that I cannot wait to use! Found a brilliant charity shop near my boyfriends house, just a shame I didnt have any money left to buy more!

First up is this pristine kelly bag with a matching purse. I have no idea if its vintage, I need to google the label. But its beautiful and only cost me £4.99! I love Kelly bags, I have a navy one too. They just seem to ladylike.

I got these for 25p each from a bootsale yesterday. I am starting to nest haha, I have no intention of moving out for another 100 years but can't help buy things that I think will go in my own house. I wanted to put bubble bath in these. They will just have to sit in my parents bathroom for the time being.
A vintage Marks and Spencers peter pan collar sheer spotted blouse from a charity shop. This is so pretty. It has a frilly peter pan collar with a pussy bow tie. Only £2.50 so I snapped it up! Its in the wash for the time being but I cant wait to wear it. I think I might wear it to The Wombats in the next few weeks.

A selection of jewellery from bootsales and charity shops. The cameo necklace was from the charity shop in my boyfriends part of town. I love cameos, starting to build up a collection! The two rings and brooch on the left were from a bootsale yesterday and cost 50p each. The rings are adjustable so they fit perfectly. The green stone brooch on the right cost £2 from a rubbish bootsale last week. It was full of people selling electrical goods and prams.

Finally I brought two books for 99p each from my favourite Oxfam charity shop. I always buy my books from here, its only since I have joined Gems book club that I have beginning to buy new again. They always have such an amazing selection of books.Anyone else find any second hand bargain over the weekend? How exciting is it that car boots have started up again!

Fashion Icon Friday - Eva Mendes

Fashion Icon Friday - Eva MendesEva Mendes is an American actress famous for staring in films such as 2 Fast 2 Furious, Stuck on You, We Own the Night and Hitch where I first came across her. She is a supporter of PETA and has starred in a naked campaign titled "Fur? I'd rather go naked". She also appeared in The Strokes video "The end has no end".
Another star that proves you do not have to flash everything in order to be noticed. She proves that you can make it in showbusinesses without falling out of taxis and flashing your lady garden for everyone to see. She always looks so elegant and polished. Her make up is flawless without being caked on and her hair is always perfect.
I dont think that I have seen her in a mindress, instead she prefers to wear dresses to the knee or just above. She seems to favor a 50's silhouette and places emphasis on her tiny waist. What I wouldn't do to have a pair of pins like that!I adore this outfit that she wore to the Golden Globes in 2009, the necklace looks amazing against her skin and is such a good contrast to the dress. She has not over done it on the accessories. This outfit is pure elegance.

Scallop edges

I have decided I am in love with scallop edging, there is just something so pretty and feminine about it. It seems to make a piece of clothing a hundred times more beautiful. I think I need some additions for my wardrobe.
Some items that I am lusting over but will most probably not be mine due to my poor wage packet.
Topshop
I would love to wear this shirt with a pair of high wasited bleached demin shorts in the summer. I would just add tights in the colder months to the outfits. I love the contast of the black collar. To be honest its not actually badly priced at £24. In fact its a bargain for Topshop. I might treat myself next month, I have done so much overtime this month I am due a monster pay packet. Topshop
Ahhh these shorts, I have seen them in so many magazines recently and its only intensified my need for them! The colour is amazing in real life and just screams summer to me. I think I would pair them with a black body and black platforms to let the shorts do the talking. They are £34.

Topshop
Again these tops are not badly priced for Topshop at £15. The only thing that had stopped me from buying them is the fact that I do not know what colour to choose! They are all so pretty! On my way to uni today I spotted replicas in a local boutique for only £8. Practically the exact top! Its a lovely coral colour, I think I might accidently go back on my lunch break and buy it!
Dorothy Perkins
I love the colour of this shift dress. It is such a lovely vibrant colour. It is such a simple and chic design, prefect to wear to work. It is priced at £33.

22 grand job, in the city it's alright

Outfit:
50s style dress: Primark
Velvet cropped jacket: Topshop
Tights: Primark
Patent square toed shoes: Next
Jewellery: Tiffany
Watch: Toywatch

This dress is a payday treat. Its the only thing I am going to buy this month. I really need to start saving. It has been sitting in my Primark for about a week in my size, must have been a return as it was the only one. It was fate that it became mine! I love the print on the top. Ugh my face looks so rough haha! I don't cope with hangovers very well! I could not be bothered with my hair so just scrapped it back. Effort is not my friend today!

I am extremely hungover. Still. I blame the 6 hour shift at work which was torture! Luckily I was hidden in the stockroom so was away from all the hustle and bustle! I got some amazing news at work today. I no longer work the weekends as from 20th march. Result, no more hangovers at work! Woop woop haha!

A quick outfit post of what I am wearing tonight. I'm going out for a chinese buffet with some people from work. I so need this, hopefully it will sort my hangover out and stop me from being such a wimp. I am planning on stuffing my face to the max. I have to get my moneys worth haha!

Hope you all have a lovely evening!

She's always looking at me

Outfit:
Mustard spotted dress: Topshop
Black tights: Primark
Black patent shoes: Next
Quilted clutch: ASOS
Beaded bracelet: Thomas Sabo
Black pearl earrings: Primark
Nail varnish: Raspberry Barry M

My face looks so silly because my friend was making me laugh! So I am trying not to laugh!

I am off out tonight as you can see by the bottle of wine! It is actually our second bottle opps! I have not been out for ages and am spending tonight with my best friend which I am extremely excited about! We always create a bit of trouble together! I have been laughing since the time she got here! She cracks me up! Currently raving to a bit of old school Kings of Leon, the best kind!

I have tried to do a bun again but it not quite as good as the first time. It has too many grips in it for me to attempt it again haha! I love this dress, I think it is one of my favourites. I just think it looks quite flattering and doesn't matter if I am having a fat day! The shoulders are gorgeous hence why I have worn my hair up to show them off. I think I need to invest in a new pair of black shoes and a new black handbag, I seem to wear these on every night out! Next payday I promise!

Hope you all have a good night and a massive hello to all my new followers! :)

Opinions needed please!

I have been after trying my hand at alterations for a while. So when I spotted this dress at a Jumble Sale at the weekend for just 25p (!!!!), I thought it would be the perfect starting point. I was going to take it up to just above the knee. But when I tried it on I actually really like the length. I feel like a lady. Like my boyfriend said, I feel like I should be having a summer picnic in Hyde Park. I think it is from the 80s as it had shoulder pads which I took out straight away. I have no desire to look like an American footballer. I looked up the label and it is a House of Fraser brand that still sells in store today. Brand new dresses retail at £89!

Excuse the bare feet but I am stuck on the footwear department. I tried brogues but they just did not look right. I tried white tights with it but alas I looked like I was wearing surgical stockings so I think it will be a strictly summer dress.

So opinions please!

Shall I alter it? Will it be difficult because of the pleats? (I can always get some help off my Aunt as she used to be a dressmaker)
What shoes would go best with it?

The jumble was a success, apart from the fact I nearly got beaten up by 80 year old grannies. No one comes between them and bargains as I found out! I managed to get a bunch of things for Ebay, brand new electric blue flat pumps from New Look, a pair of pearl earrings (RIP they have now broken, quite possibly why they were 50p!) and a huge Mary Poppins style carpet bag which I am unsure on wether to keep or sell.

Outfit details:
Cream cardigan: Topshop
Cream statement ring: Primark
Nail varnish: Raspberry Barry M

P.s how amazing is my new bed cover! It was from Primark! Inside it has rows of cameos, I am in love!

Stylish Blogger Award

I have been meaning to do this for ages. I have been awarded the stylish blogger award by two lovely ladies, Charlotte and Amy you should check out their blogs! :) Thank you!

My seven facts that are not that interesting haha sorry girls!

1. As much as I love The Strokes, Bloc Party, Libertines and We are Scientists. Deep down my all time favourite band, much to the disgust of my friends, is the Backstreet Boys. There I said it. I have been completely in love with Nick Carter since I was 9. I have managed to see them 3 times, each time better than the last.

2. I am an ebay freak. I am obsessed with selling things on ebay, so much so that when I visit people houses I take their rubbish home with me. My ebay listings are extremely random. I am at the Post Office so often that they know me by name!

3. I don't like tea or and hot drinks. I tried Tea at The Ritz but could not manage to drink it. I just do not like the taste. Give me diet coke any day!

4. My favourite programme is Sex and the City. I have watched it god knows how many times. I still think Carrie should have stayed with Aiden.

5. I adore high heels, the higher the better. But alas I cannot walk in them. I am famous in my group of friends for falling over. They even have a bet between them on what time I will fall over during a night out.

6. I used to be a complete tomboy. I regularly went to watch West Ham with my dad and at one point could tell you anything about football in any league. I spent my life in tracksuits, my favourite one used to be a bright orange Kappa one. I thought I was Sporty Spice.

7. I love gigging. In fact I could go to a gig everyday and would choose it over clubbing anyday. I have been neglecting live music for the last few years. In my younger days it was all I used to spend my money on. However I have decided to get back into the swing of things. I have three lined up already this year and am looking to add to it. I NEED TO SEE THE STROKES!

He's got two left feet and he bites my moves

Outfit:
Tobacco chunky cardigan: Primark
White vest: Topshop
Floral jersey skirt: River Island
Brown tights: Primark
Cameo pearl necklace: Topshop
Floral earrings: gift
Cream statement ring: Primark

Not the most exciting outfit today but i've been having a coursework day. I have managed to complete a 1500 word essay, you have no idea how pleased I am! I will not be beaten by uni work ha! I'm having a bit of a break now and waiting for the boy to come round. I found this necklace and have fallen in love all over again. I think I brought it on my gap year when I was extremely flash with my cash haha! I was working full time and spend far too much money when in hindsight I should have saved! Ahhhh those were the days of endless shopping!

I'm not planning on doing anything tonight because my bank account is feeling extremely sorry for itself. My boyfriend did offer to pay for me to go to the cinema tonight, we both want to see The Fighter. Mmmmm Mark Whalberg! I said no because I feel bad taking his money when he very generously got me Coco Madamoiselle from his trip to Ireland. Its an early Valentines gift :) But I am so drained from uni work that I am desperate to go out so I might just take him up on his offer and pay him back when my ebay dosh comes through.

Has anyone got any exciting plans for Valentines Day?

Me and the boy don't usually celebrate it as our anniversary is on the 30th January, we have both decided that that is more important. I have however raided Tescos and brough their £15 finest meal deal. I brought chorizo and cheese chicken, green beans and new potatoes with chocolate pudding for afters. All washed down with a lovely bottle of rose cava. Perfect! Now we just have to agree on a film to watch, I think i'm going to push for something girly!
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend :)

In the spring time

I am completely in love with the SS11 collection at Primark. They have really stepped up their game. In fact i'm choosing to shop there now instead of having too because of lack of funds. In my opinion it does not "look" like Primark. My friends are always shocked when I mention my outfit is from Primark, the beach print dress as a prime example. My Primark is still a bit rubbish but I recently went to the Marble Arch branch and it was amazing. I'm planning a special trip there when I get paid.

These are a few pieces on my wishlist!
I need this skirt! I don't think I would wear with it with that jumper, it just seems to heavy. It is even better in the flesh and such a bargain at £16. Seriously this needs to be mine!I adore this whole outfit. Those platforms are too die for! The hat will be perfect for my holiday and it is only £4. I am loving all these knee skimming dresses and skirts, I think Im too old to be flashing my bum now. I prefer to be a bit more ladylike!
I am having a serious love affair with wide leg trousers and due to my height they should be perfect. I am 5ft 8. But I'm not sure if they will be that flattering. I am bottom heavy and I just don't know if they will suit my large bum! I suppose I will just have to try them on! It is my favourite colour combination of red and navy too!
I spotted this dress in Look magazine this week and it only intensified my need for it even more! Again what a perfect outfit to wear on holiday! It is a tad expensive at £17, I remember when Primark dresses used to be a tenner max! But they are improving their quality so it is justified.
I have been on the look out for this for ages! It was supposed to be in stores at the end of Jan but I have yet to come across it. If anyone finds it in a London or Essex store will you please let me know? I need to own this and Ill get my boyfriend to make a special trip to where it is! Ill bribe him with Pie and Mash, it usually works haha!

Whats in my make up bag

Compact Mirror
Benefit BADgal mascara
Rose and almond oil vaseline
Rimmel match perfection concealer
Barry M lip gloss
Benefit Flatter Me creaseless cream shadowliner
17 blusher brush
Eyeshadow brush
Avon sunkisses bronzer cream
ELF Mocha Swirl duo eye shadow cream
Rimmel bronzing compact powder medium matte
Eyelash curlers
Rimmel Soft Khol eye liner pencil in jet black
This is what I call my essentials. I do have a lot more but its kept in a drawer rather than a make up bag. If i'm wearing my glasses I just wear mascara, bronzer eyeliner, concealer and vaseline. I don't ever wear any foundation. It just does not agree with my skin, I feel like i'm trapped and it brings me out in spots so I stay well away! I only wear eyeshadow and eyeliner when I have my contacts in. I tend to hide behind glasses.I love the benefit eyeshadow but I was getting through it too fast and it was costing me a fortune to replace it. So I brought some from ELF to wear everyday so I could save benefit for special occasions. It is the first thing I have brought from ELF and am very impressed, I can't wait until I can treat myself to some more things once payday comes!

I adore the Rimmel eyeliner, have been buying it since I was 15. I love the way it smudges and the fact that it's only £2.99 doesn't hurt either! Ive not found an eyeliner that's better.

I am actually after some make up brushes if anyone has any recommendations?

In the Navy

Outfit:
Peter Pan collar frill vest: Topshop
Red cardigan: Primark
Navy lace skirt: River Island
Navy tights: Primark
Navy cameo ring: Primark
Nautical charm bracelet: Next
Pearl Earrings: Primark
Red heart bag: Topshop
Navy shoes: a random boutique
Red watch: Toywatch

I still look so awkward, any tips on posing? Ha!

I am completely in love with my new skirt. I am tempted to buy it in cream too. Its such a lovely length and totally suitable for when I get a "proper" job. Thats the excuse im telling my mum when i'm buying all these new clothes! I love the floral belt that came with it. I am a little matchy matchy today but I like it. I am a massive fan of all things nautical. Its a shame that you can't see the peter pan collar under my hair. I don't know if anyone will notice but I have had a thicker blunt fringe cut it. It kept parting in the middle so I thought a thicker fringe would weigh it down. I am so pleased with it, I think it looks so much better. Just looks a bit strange with my hair tied up.

I am off out for dinner tonight at the Toby Carvery with my best friend and a couple of other school friends who I don't get to see that often. I am looking forward to having a huge catch up. One of them got married so we are going to be fawning over her wedding album. Her wedding dress was amazing! This will be the third time out in a week, it feels like Christmas! I don't usually have that much of a social life especially with girls haha!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. Anyone doing anything exciting?

We never had a heart to heart but you still call me up after dark

Floral dress: Topshop
Black chunky knit cardigan: Primark
Black tights: Marks and Spencers
Pink snakeskin chain handle bag: Primark
Cameo Ring: Primark
Flower earrings: Gift
Pearl necklace: Primark
Black brouges: Primark
Nail varnish O.P.I Strawberry Margarita
My posing looks awkward today! Its a shame you can't see the cameo ring due to the flash. The pictures were too dark when I took the flash off.

I had no clue what to wear today. It was one those days when I hated everything in my wardrobe. So I decided to have a rummage in my summer drawer to see if I could "winter up" some dresses. I found this little beauty. Its one of my favourite summer dresses, I brought it last summer when Topshop was not a faraway distant shop as it seems to be at the minute. It seems a bit of a shame to cover it up as it has an open back with a bow. But I think it looks just fine with a cardigan thrown over the top. I thought I'd paint my nails in a bright summer colour to match the dress and hopefully stop it from looking a bit dull. My lovely earrings were a birthday present off one of my friends. They are gorgeous and so "me"! The bag is not my usual style, it's years old and has just been collecting dust. But I think it helps to add a much needed pop of colour.

Im off to go see Black Swan finally with my friend which i'm looking forward too. I haven't seen her since we went to Flashdance in the West End so there will be lots to catch up on. It will be nice to be able to talk "girl talk" as all I seem to be surrounded by these days are the topics of football, sex, football, sex, football. Ah the joys of having a conversation with a group of boys! I am planning of stuffing my face with popcorn and M&Ms with a huge diet coke. Ahhhh heaven!

I also made a start on some coursework today, not a lot but still I managed to write 200 words and print off some research. Somehow the aspect of comparing the UK media to the US is not filling me with motivation! Ahh well needs to be done. I just need to get a pretty folder to start storing it in. I can feel a trip coming on to WH Smiths haha!

A heartfelt hello to all my new followers :) It means a lot that you like read my blog and I shall be, as soon as funds allow, be organising a little giveaway to say thank you!

Soap and Glory: The Righteous Butter

Soap and Glory: The Righteous Butter
I got this in a set for Christmas. Again as with most Soap and Glory products I had been dying to try it out but did not have the funds to buy it. Seems to be the story of my life lately!I am a die hard fan of Palmers coco butter and have been since I discovered it at the age of 14. I suffer from extremely dry skin and I found that it was the only thing that worked for me. I swear by it and am constantly recommending it to everyone. Not much has ever lived up to it! I have no time for thin sloppy body lotions. It has to be thick and smell lovely haha! Sorry for the blurry picture below, I didn't realise it at the time and have used it all up so cannot take another picture! When I opened the pot I was how gorgeous it smelt which to be honest is fairly common with Soap and Glory products. It was lovely and thick. It made me skin feel so soft all day. I put it on after a shower in the morning and my legs still felt lovely by the time I went to bed. This is a huge plus in my books! The only thing I didn't like is the fact it didn't spread very far. You only really need a few dollops of Palmers to moisturise a whole leg but with this you needed quite a few more. Hence I'd used all the pot in three days.

I don't think I will be buying it again, not because I don't like it, but simply just because it does not last very long. My funds will not allow for me to buy it frequently. Having said that once I get a full time job I can see a few purchases coming along!
