Brighton - Don't be jel

Beware this is an extremely picture heavy post! I have just got back from an amazing few days in Brighton and am currently in bed and do not intend to move. I am seriously too old to drink two days on the trot now.

I found out that TOWIE has a massive impression on the population of England. One mention of the word Essex and it was all reem, jel and vajazzle. I have never been prouder to be an Essex girl haha! I have seriously never laughed so hard in my life, I dont think we ever stopped. It was such a brilliant few days. I even managed to convince my friend who thinks vintage is "disgusting smelly old people clothes" to spend the day rummaging in the huge amount of vintage shops. It was just a shame I only had a £20 limit but I still managed to nab some goodies which i'll do in a post tomorrow :) Snoopers Paradise is my idea of heaven, I have now realised that I will have a junk house haha! My friend even bit the bullet and brought a vintage bag and scarf. My next mission is to drag her to car boots!I met up with one of my old sixth friends who moved down to Brighton to go to Uni and never came back home. He took us for a bit of a pub crawl around the North Laines and then we ended up going back to his friends house in Kemptown. I made a very good impression when I kicked a glass of wine over as I stood up. Obviously you can take the girl out of Essex but not the Essex out of the girl! We ended up having a mad night with lots of dancing and singing in a club on the seafront. Isn't my best friend a beauty? :)
Thanks to everyone on twitter who suggested places to go, they were all so good. The Angel Food Bakery was so amazing we went back twice so we could take some home. I have just polished off the lemon cupcake this very minute.

We went to this amazing bar called Font which was a old converted church. I did feel a bit weird at first getting my rave on in a church haha! The DJ was in the pulpit and it still had the pews dotted around.

My friend Scott with all the inside knowledge and who kept insisting on buying shots!
I have decided that nothing beats getting all glammed up and dancing like an idiot to Teenage Dirtbag with your best friend.

We've got a city to love

Outfit:
Tribal print maxi dress: River Island
Black 3/4 sleeved cardigan: Primark
Black suedette studded sandals: Primark
Black Satchal: Charity shop
Red plastic watch: Toywatch
Black beaded cameo bracelet: Thomas Sabo
Orange nail polish: Rock Candy Nails Inc

Sorry for the squinty eyes, it was so sunny yesterday and when I tried to take the photos at the other end of the garden they looked over exposed!

This is what I wore yesterday to attend two BBQs! Yes two, I have now overdosed on meat and do not want to eat another burger in the foreseeable future! The maxi dress and sandals are from last summer. The dress was a complete bargain, I brought it in the River Island sale reduced from £50 to £10! It is a bit tent like but its so comfortable. Perfect for days when im stuffing my face! I am so excited to be pulling out my summer clothes, it feels like I have a whole new wardrobe!

If you follow me on twitter you will be aware that I have managed to get an internship! I am so excited, so much so that I think I phoned everyone in my phone book on Friday to tell them the good news. I will be working for a parenting website based in North London. I will finally be a city girl, I have only ever wanted to work in the city so even though it will only be for 3 months I am going to be achieving one of my dreams! It is based right next to a shopping centre which can only mean bad news to be honest. Hello no more wages! I will still keep my job in retail at the weekends so I won't be completely skint. I also get a little bit of money from the internship so really I will not be any worse off. Still earning the same amount of money. I will be starting either this week or next, eeeeek cannot wait!

I recieved my naked skincare goodies yesterday and they all smell so nice! I love the packaging, it was obvious a lot of time and effort went into it! I used the shampoo and conditioner this morning and am going to try out the hair mask later on in the week. I am going to do a review of the hair mask but if you want reviews of any of the other products just let me know!

What did everyone else get up to over the weekend? Anyone used Naked skincare before?

Take your shoes off and I will throw them in the lake

Outfit:
Floral patterned navy dress: New Look
Red chunky knit cardigan: Primark
Navy tights: Primark
Navy pumps: Primark
Pearl tassle necklace: Miss Selfridge
Nautical ribbon pearl earrings: River Island via a bootsale

My mum was being David Bailey in the middle photo and making me laugh hence why my face looks funny!

This is one of my comfort outfits. Gone for the combo of blue and red yet again! I have had the dress years, brought it on a whim when I had my first work experience placements. I was working just off Chancery Lane which is far too close to Oxford Street than is healthy. I went a bit crazy in those two weeks and spent £200 on clothes, a whole months wages. Yep I have no self control. I have this cardigan in black and tan too. For £7 it seemed like the perfect idea to buy it in all the different colours! It is so warm and cosy and saved me from wearing a jacket when I ran into town to do some errands.

I recieved the 30 day shred in the post today and am going to try it tomorrow. Dreading it to be honest but needs must. I am fed up of moaning about my weight and decided to do something about it. I was going to start it tonight but am going to jazzacise later on and I don't think my body will cope with both! I have lost 2 pounds since my healthy eating programme kicked into place last week. I am so happy, its given me the motivation to carry on.

I ordered some naked skincare products thanks to a groupon voucher. I haven't try any of their products before but have heard good things! Have any of you tried them? Would you be interested in reviews?

Hello to my new followers :) I am on twitter if you ever fancy a chat.

Put your best foot forward

I am still alive. My apologies for neglecting blogging. I have had a hell of a week which included two interviews, brownie camp and filling out various job applications. Hopefully this week will be a little calmer.

In the hope that I will get a job, perferably one that pays me please, I am looking at getting together a working wardrobe. I am under the illusion that in order to work in the city I must wear a heel. A week in commuting may shatter this but for now I need some affordable heels/wedges. Enter Matalan.

White espadrille wedges - £16

As summer is coming up I want to invest in lots of maxi dresses and skirts for the office. I think they are conservative enough for work yet fashionable enough not to be considered a frump. As hopefully I will be working on a magazine I need to look the part. White goes with everything hence why these are a winner. I love an espadrille for the summer and the wedges means they won't be mean to my feet. These might just have to be a purchase come payday.

Tan cork wedges - £14

Tan is another colour that is perfect for summer and goes with everything. These will help to give me some height whilst still allowing me to have some comfort. Hopefully.

Brown lace up peep toe heels - £20

I am a sucker for a peeptoe, I just think they look so elegant. These would look fab poking out from underneath a maxi dress. I much prefer brown to black in the summer, it looks less harsh. Again these might accidently find themselves in my basket come payday. Please god let me have a good month!

Cream flat moccasins - £12

These are perfect for the days where my poor feet need some relief. I have a cunning plan to wear flats on the tube and then stash them in my handbag on the way to office. Who's to know I haven't been wearing them all day?

Lace up desert boots - £14

Ok so these will not be suitable for work. But I love them! I have been lusting after a pair of desert boots for ages. They are only £14! They are the best summer boot. I just need a reason to justify buying them!

I have not been sponsored for this post, I just liked what I saw!

Happy Birthday Mum

Outfit:
Floral tea dress: Topshop via a charity shop
Navy tights: Primark
Navy faux suede courts: Primark

I am not quite a 100% sold on this outfit. The first thing my boyfriend said when he saw me was that I looked like a teacher. Is that a bad thing? In otherwise do I look frumpy? I think maybe it is the length, its actually from the tall range so that might be why its a little long. Although I am 5ft 8 so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I might chuck this onto the ebay pile. Oh well it will do for tonight!

I found this a few weeks ago in a charity shop and only just got round to wearing it. I originally brought it because of the longer length and thought it would be suitable for a "proper" job. Bum skimming dresses don't quite seem right for a professional. I picked out the navy flowers and chose to wear navy tights and courts. Not had time to have a shower before i'm off out so thrown it up in a bun. Looks quite nice even if I do say so myself, very pleased with how it turned out!

I am off out for dinner tonight to the local noodle bar as it is my mums birthday. How lucky am I with my parents having a birthday a week apart. Expensive much! I didn't have anything to give her but I am buying her theatre tickets to see the Wizard of Oz at the West End. We just need to decide on a date and then I am booking them!

An oldie of me and the mother. Kinda a bit blurry as its been scanned but how much do I look like her! Its scary how much I look like her when I she was my age! So similar! Thats me as a bubba!

Going to a jumble tomorrow which I am very exciting about! Hopefully the jumble gods will be looking down on me and I will come away with some right bargains!

Wishlist

I have finally handed in my dissertation thank god! So now have all this free time on my hands that I do not know what to do with! I did a few bits and pieces today but still have a list as long as my arm! I have so much to catch up on! Hopefully i'll be able to blog a lot more too!

These are things that I would treat myself to celebrate finishing Uni if I had the money. Alas I do not!

Leopard print platform - Asos
I need these in my life! They are beautiful. I adore the chunky heal and the bow on the front. I just need somewhere to wear them so I can jusitify the purchase.

Black classic Raybans
I have some fake ones that I brought from Turkey a few years ago but the "Rayban" has rubbed off which is rubbish. I would quite like some real ones though please!

Staw floppy hat - Topshop
This will be perfect for the summer. As with everything in Topshop it is overpriced for what it is so I think I am going to look elsewhere for something similar!

Floral sleevless cropped tie shirt - Topshop
I can see myself wearing this with a maxi skirt for the summer. It's such a lovely pattern!

Vivienne Westwood pearl bracelet
I have been eyeing up one of these for a while, I think I might put it on my Christmas list. A tad early I know but you might as well be prepared!

Also I have finally gotten chosen the winner for my giveaway via random.org. I bet you all had forgotten about it eh? So after a extremely long wait the winner is:

Mica aka Flights of Fancy!

Well done! Ill send you an tweet or if you see this before you get an email just email me your address!

A right royal knees up

Yesterday I have never felt more proud to be British. I unshamelessly soaked up every part of Tv coverage there was, getting up at 8 in order to not miss a thing. It did not disappoint in the slightest. The outfits were amazing, I now have a sudden urge to go out and buy the biggest hat I can find. I adored Victoria Beckham's outfit and Tara Palmer Tompkinson's. Zara Phillips looked gorgeous. The Middleton's mother scrubbed up extremely well as mother of the bride. Pippa looked stunning in her bridesmaid dress. But Princess Catherine outshone everyone.

Photobucket

I done a little squeal inside when I realised she had chosen McQueen. Everything about her wedding outfit screamed regal. She really did look fit for a princess. On a more negative note I had imagined my dress to be similiar to this if I ever get married. Going to have to change tactics because I do not want to be labeled a copycat and too be honest I don't think anyone could ever look as breathtaking as Kate. I would not even want to try!

Photobucket

Did anyone think that Prince Harry looked like he wanted to throw up any second. The poor boy looked so nervous, even more so than William. I would loved to have heard Prince Harry's speech. I held my breath when the ring was too stubborn to go on Kates finger. Wills proper pushed it on didn't he, surprised she didnt let out a yelp! Loved it when Harry looked Kate up and down as she walked down to meet William, he blates gave him a little nudge telling him that the boy done good! I swooned when William told Kate that she looked beautiful. Although the kiss was about a second long, it was adorable. I loved Kates little laugh and William tiny little blush. Kate's reaction when she stepped out on that balcony was amazing, wow indeed. They just looked so happy and in love. I think they could go the distance.

Photobucket

Now how do I manage to get my hands on Prince Harry?

Once I hand in my dissertation on Tuesday I am coming straight home and watching it all again on sky +

Did you all enjoy the Royal wedding?

Happy Birthday Dad!

Outfit:
Grey pleated maxi skirt: Primark
Blue and white knotted crop top: Primark
Collection of gold colour bangles: Varied from when my friend travelled round Asia and Accessorize
Gold coloured purse necklace: Primark
Red plastic watch: Toywatch
Nail varnish: Barry M Raspberry
Pink lipstick: Barry M

Two posts in two days, i'm getting better at this blogging lark haha!

Its my dads birthday today and we are off out for dinner later to the Toby. I think it may be my favourite place in the whole world! Here's an oldie of me and my dad :) Things parents do for the kids eh?
I had a little bit of spare money so I wandered into Primark to see what I could find with my money. I swear I never come away from that place empty handed. It's lethal in there. Anyway I have had my eye on this skirt for a little while, they do it in rust too but they didn't have my size so I settle for grey. I also brought a crop top. Yep a crop top. The white stripe is actually white lace. This is one trend I never thought in a million years I would ever get on board with. I don't think I will ever wear it with any flesh showing but I really like it worn with a high waisted skirt. Plus it was only a fiver! I really like this outfit, I think its going to be well worn over the summer. Its so comfy, I feel like I should be walking along a beach in Thailand bare foooted. I have the bare feet but alas no beach.

Not long till another bank holiday! What has everyone got planned for the Royal Wedding?

I'm acting like i'm in an Eastenders episode

Outfit:
Orange floral dress: River Island
Demin pumps: Primark
Cream crocheted cardigan: Topshop

This is what I wore last night.

My nan very kindly sent me £10 for Easter and I already had a £20 credit note from River Island so I treated myself to this dress. I love its such a great length and so comfy. The material is great, does not crease which is always a plus. I feel so summery in it! They have it in yellow too so that might have to be mine come next payday. I have only been paid 6 days and i'm already wishing my next one will come around. My money situation is tragic!

My friend won Wombats tickets in a competition but already had another gig booked so couldn't go. He very kindly gave them to me and my boyfriend. The gig was amazing, so imtimate. It was at the Borderline, just off Tottenham Court Road and must have only had 150 people max. So different to when I saw them last month in Hammersmith. We had seats right up in the gods. Turned out to be quite a random night to be honest which are always the best. We got to London about 7pm and as it was a competition there was no warm up act and the Wombats were on stage at 8pm. Hence we paniced as we were going to find somewhere nice for dinner and ended up in Subway! The gig finished at half 9 and we were going to find a nice pub to go for a few drinks and as we were walking back to the station someone was flyering for Punk. Free entry before 11 and drinks were 2-1. It would have been rude not to have a little nosy haha! There was only about 15 people in there but the music was really good. I think we are going to organise a night there on a Friday as I think it has the potential to be a really good night!

Considering I was suppose to have a quiet weekend, I ended out going out 3 out the 4 nights and have made a massive dent in the wages. Going to have to stay in next weekend haha!

Hope everyone made the most out of your bank holiday weekend!

The sun has got its hat on

Outfit:
White vest top: H&M
Vintage red and white polka dot pleated skirt: Charity Shop
White jelly sandals: River Island
Special edition Royal wedding tote bag: The Body Shop
Red watch: Toywatch
Pearl necklace: Miss Selfridge

Not the best photo today, I am aware I looks a bit rough! I have been up since the crack of dawn and am over heating! I cannot cope in the heat but wanted to show my outfit off today

The vintage skirt is a bargain buy from a charity shop, only cost me £3. I spotted it but due to my severe lack of funds could not afford it. Luckily when I went back a week later it was still there begging me to buy it. Must have been fate ha! It is such a lovely length, I can't wear short skirts with bare legs! I finally brought into the Royal wedding hype. I did have my eye on the Cath Kidston tote but at £10 it was just a little too much. Plus we don't have a shop near and I would have had to pay postage. I am far too much of a skinflint to do that! Luckily this Body Shop one was only £3.50. Going to get a mug sometime next week.

Me and the mother went to a bootsale today and I really did strike it lucky. I came away with a lovely vintage tweed blazer with suede elbow patches and collar for £2, the Office boxset with the Christmas special included for £1.50, Bruce Almighty for 50p and a brand new pair of nautical style pearl earrings from River Island for a £1. Not bad for a fiver!

Just come back from a lovely pub lunch and am hiding out in my bedroom to try and attempt some dissertation work. Its just so hard when its so sunny but I am going to try and get at least 700-800 words completed. Fingers crossed!

Is everyone having a lovely Easter Sunday? Sick of chocolate yet?

Shoes are a girl's best friend

Its top five time again! First off I would like to apologise for the lack of blogging recently. My dissertation is kicking my butt! I am getting extremely stressed about the whole thing and its taking up too much of my time then I want it too. Oh well needs must I suppose!

These are my top five pairs of shoes!

I have many shoes but only tend to wear a few pairs. Shocking really but I only realised how many I had when I starting sorting through them for this post! Must make more of a consicious effort not to keep going for my trusty black wedges.

1. Leopard print pony haired court shoes - Accessorize
I lusted over these for months but at £45 they were just too expensive for me to take the plunge. But they went in the sale and I snapped them up at £22.50. They do tend to hurt a bit hence why I have only worn them once. They just are not high enough for me to wear on a night out, my motto is the higher the better. But once i'm in full time work I can see myself breaking these beauties in and getting a lot of use out of them.

2. Nude platform faux suede shoes - Primark
What a bargain these were at £12! No one ever believes they are Primark! They go with everything and have the plus of making my legs look longer. Always a plus!

3. Black faux suede wedges - New Look
I seriously wear these to death. In fact they are starting to look a bit battered. May have to chuck these out soon! Again they go with everything and are so comfortable to wear. Perfect for a night out, I dont have to take my shoes off after an hour of dancing

4. Blue and white zebra print court shoes - TopshopThey are years old, I think I may have brought them when I got my first job at 15. They were a sale buy at just £15. So cheap for Topshop especially when the shoes are regularly £70+. Again I don't wear them much anymore due to the heel being not so high. But they will make the perfect work shoes.

5. Pearl, gold and ribbon ankle black flats - Topshop
I adore these, lusted over them for ages and then my work kindly brought me a voucher for my 21st so I made sure they were the first thing I brought! I never wear them though, my mum dislikes them and whenever I put them on tells me they never go. I give into peer pressure and take them off! They tend to make my legs look a bit sausage like too. But they are so beautiful! Shame the toes got a bit scuffed when I fell over haha! Its not as bad as it looks in the photo!

I have not forgotten about my giveaway, hopefully announce the winner over the weekend!

Baggy trousers

Outfit:
White vest top: H&M
Dusty pink lace blazer: Next
Grey smart chinos: Next
Grey ballet pumps: Primark
Blue cameo necklace: Charity shop
Red watch: Toywatch

Sorry for the squinty eyes, its quite sunny here in Essex. Whats it like where you are?

I am in trousers. I never wear trousers. They just do not agree with my child bearing hips, I sure I will be grateful of them in 10 years when I actually have children but right now I hate tmy hips with a passion. I have been lusting over chinos from afar but just felt too self conscious to buy and and they fact most of them just did not fit. I found these in Next and had been umming and ahhhing for ages. They are soft cotton so are not as clingy as ordinary chinos. Plus they look smarter and will be perfect for when I finally get a full time job. I might invest in the black version too. It does feel a little weird not being in a dress, I feel more exposed in trousers! I have had this lace blazer for ages, brought it as uniform a few seasons ago and its still going strong. I love the colour and its so easy just to throw on.

I still don't feel that confident in this get up but I am going to visit family today and I feel more comfortable around them.

As I said I am off to visit family today. My cousin has recently brought a house about half an hour away and is having people over as a little house warming. It is starting at 2pm so I will possibly be drunk by 4 especially as he said he has wine! Not good! I always like doing family things, its not often that everyone gets the chance to get together due to people living all over.

Also I have been reading a few blogs recently and people have been taking part in "swaps" with bloggers in different countries. They swap anything really that is only available in their country. I was wondering if anyone wanted to do this with me? My email address is in the contact me tab at the top, just let me know! Its always nice to recieve things in the post that are not bills!

What have you all go planned for the weekend?

You've got to take me out at least once a week

Outfit:
Black and white floral dress: Next
Red long sleeved cardigan: Primark
Black loafers: Primark
Black tights: Marks and Sparks
Black leather stachel: Charity shop
Oversize faux pearl necklace: Primark

Excuse the red eye in the second photo, my mum refused to take any more pictures because she has to watch heartbeat in the telly. Never mind that the episode is 10 years old and she has seen it a million times before!

I spent the last of my uniform allowance at work today and this is one of the two dresses that I brought. Only £28 normally, what a bargain! I'm wearing it out before I wear it to work, always nice to go out for the evening with something new on! I thought i'd jazz it up a bit with a red cardigan, stop it from looking too dull. I'm using my trusty vintage stachel again tonight, honestly the best £6 I have ever spent I use it all the time!

Off out to Pizza Expresss tonight for dinner. My boyfriend is very kindly treating me as he won £30 on the Grand National. I think I have a keeper there! Although I have made sure I have printed off the 2 courses for £10 discount off vouchercodes, nothing I like more than a bargain! It will be such a nice break from all my Uni work I seem to be doing lately athough I am feeling a little guilty about not doing any tonight. Handed in my first draft of my dissertation today so hopefully I won't have too much to change come Wednesday and my tutor will tell me i'm on the right track!

Hope everyone has a lovely evening :)

Summer loving

I have been browsing the internet when I should be in fact doing some dissertation work. First draft in on Thursday eeeeek! But I have completed my other two modules, page numbered and contents paged, so they are ready to be handed in. Also done about 250 words of my dissertation so all in all a pretty successful geeky night!

I do have a point after all that mindless rambling, I stumbled across the new Primark summer collection and spotted this dress.

Oh my I NEED it now. I will find it and it will be mine.

It will be perfect for my holiday (which I have yet to book or even save for but lets forget about that!). I l0ve the beautiful colours and look at the neckline! Its a beaut! The length is perfect, no flashing anyone once I have had a few. Always a plus in my book! Oh and what is the price I hear you say. £17! Who says you can't look good on a budget.

Oh Primark you have certainly upped your game!
