My nan was given a voucher for High Tea for her birthday so I tagged along - never miss out on scones with clotted cream and jam! It was in a lovely venue called Mulberry House not far from my house, proving Essex is far more than Oompa Loompa tans and Sugar Hut. For just over £13 we were given a tray of sandwiches - smoked salmon always get a thumbs up from me - and an assortment of different cakes and scones. I can confirm that the mini carrott cake went down very well as did the mini eclair. Anyone else think cakes taste so much nicer in miniature form?

Have you got any suggestions for Afternoon or High Tea in around the London and Essex area? I'm always on the look out for new places!

  1. Your fur trimmed cape is amazing! I've been on the hunt for one for ages!

  3. You look perfectly turned out for afternoon tea, very ladylike. It looks like such a lovely place you went and yes I agree cakes taste better in miniature. No suggestions I'm afraid as I'm a northerner, but I could recommend you loads of places up here if you were ever to head this way. we have about six posh vintage tearooms in my town alone :) got to love Yorkshire for embracing the vintage :)

  4. This looks so good! Definitely going to try to get my parents to take me next time I'm home! x

  5. I went for afternoon tea a couple of months ago at the restaurant in The Wallace Collection (in Manchester Square, off Baker St) and it was wonderful - the setting is brilliant, it's an old courtyard, covered over with a glass ceiling and the food is lovely :)

  6. Sophie this looks lovely!!! Dream Team outing soon?!!

  7. This cape is amazing on you, afternoon tea sounds lovely, such a nice treat!

  8. ooh yum it looks delish! love the name of the place too ;) xx

  9. Oooft I'd definitely not turn an invite like that down either haha! Looking snug as a bug in a rug missus ;) xxx

  10. Please let me steal that cape off of you. After we've had afternoon tea xx

  11. I love mini anything. Mini jars of jam are so cute. I'm weird.
