Hola Amigos

A few snapshots of my week in Majorca, I figured you wouldn't interested in 117 photos so I have just selected a few!

Despite the grimace in the third picture I can assure you that my boyfriend does really like spending time with me. I think. He just does not like to smile in photos!

I had such a lovely week away in the hot sunshine although my tan seemed to have faded as soon as I got on the plane to come home. We just spent the week being lazy at the beach and pool and to be honest it was bliss. It was so nice not to have to do anything, life is always so hectic during the week now I am working full time. Highlights included a lot of cocktails, bingo, crazy golf, lots of food and the beautiful beach.

I have a few posts lined up, looking forward to getting back into blogging and catching up on my favourites.

Hope you have all been ok!

Making a statement - Guest post by Kirsty

How many times do you find yourself out shopping and, despite the hundreds of outfits on offer, nothing catches your eye? It happens to me so often, especially as shops seem to cram more and more clothing into their aisles that the sea of fashion becomes a tidal wave of ‘sameness’.

But every so often there is an item that seems to stand out from the rest. It has this aura about it, it draws you in, it calls your name and it is love at first sight. I call these Statement Pieces. They stand out because they are bold, unusual and bright. Below are my favourite statement pieces from my wardrobe. I hope you like them.

The Statement Skirt
I found this skirt at a Vintage Fair at Spitalfields Market in London on a Bank Holiday Monday. I had found quite a few lovely vintage pieces but they all seemed to be way over-priced and I didn’t feel justified in buying any of them. I spotted this skirt just before we were about to leave and at £16, I thought it was more in my price range and snapped it up. It came with a black belt but I feel the skirt works best without it. In fact, because the skirt does all the talking I only wear it with a plain black or white t-shirt or vest and minimal jewellery. Skirt £16 – vintage fair
T-shirt £9.99 on sale – Gap
Sandals $8.50 – Forever 21, Canada
Gold Leather Bracelet £3 – Camden Market
Over the shoulder bag £20 – Accessorize

The Statement Top
River Island is one of those shops that has amazing items in it one week and things I’d never dream of wearing the next! On this particular occasion I walked into the shop on Oxford Street and my line of vision was drawn to this beautiful vintage-inspired kimono. I just knew, whatever the cost, it had to be mine. This top has pride of place on my dresser’s mannequin so that I can look at it every day, even if I don’t wear it that often. It looks amazing over my black maxi jersey dress from Gap, or with skinny jeans and a black vest top. I wore this on a flight to Canada and got bumped up to First Class – worth the £40 then!
Kimono £40 – River Island
Skinny Jeans £85 – Levi’s
Black vest top £6 – H&M

The Statement Bag
I love, love, love this bag! I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve had when I wear it. I tend to wear it only in Spring and Summer as coral is not really a Winter colour. The ruffle detail never seems to date (I’ve had this bag for about 5 years) and it goes with pretty much everything, except red. And maybe orange. Handbag £30 – Fiorelli

Take my advice, if you stumble across something that gives you goose bumps then buy it! Even if you don’t think you will wear it that often, you will regret not buying it.

Primark Lookbook thanks to Olivia

When you read this I will away sunning myself in Majorca! Oliva has very kindly agreed to write a guess post for me about the Primark lookbook. There are some amazing pieces this season!

The thing I love most about Sophie’s blog is her magical way of being able
to transform the most simple, and affordable fashion into something incredibly chic and personal to her ladylike style. She’s one of the main bloggers I think of when I think ‘affordable fashion’, and with her much acquired skill of being able to dish out the most favourable of gems from high-street giant Primark, I’ve really decided that this Autumn and Winter I’m going to pay some serious attention to this brand- because, if their Look book and Sophie’s style is anything to go by, it’s sure to be a good ‘un…

This Autumn Primark’s look book has some real corkers. Think floral kimonos to go over warm orange pencil skirts, delicate sheer midis with elegant pussy-bow blouses to tapered trousers and 70s jumpsuits, there’s something for everyone from work wear to party pieces.

Below I’ve selected my top picks from this year’s collection in hope they eventually pop up at my local store (particularly that navy jumpsuit) - let’s keep our eye’s peeled!

I need to have this coat in my life. I am going to make it my mission to hunt this down - Sophie

I like it in the city when two worlds collide

Outfit:
Orange and cream floral dress: Dorothy Perkins via choice
White crochet cardigan: Topshop
Coral bow pumps: Primark
Orange bag: Topshop

Summer seems to have made an appearence in September, an amazing 26 degrees today. I busted out this sun dress, the first time I have worn it this year with bare legs. I wore it to work but had to bring out the flesh coloured tights because it was too cold. It was a complete bargain. I saw it in Dorothy perksin for £35 but it was too much for my student budget. It popped up in Choice for £11 a few months later! It is the perfect summer dress. Such a nice length and as it is made out of cotton it is very light to wear. I look very matchy today!

Popped to Lakeside today to get a few last minute things for my holiday mainly for the boy. Suprisingly I didn't buy anything just a birthday present for my friend. I could have spent a small fortune in Primark (again) but the queue was awful and I wasn't in the mood to deal with all those people! I went out for an early dinner to the local Mexican and am feeling extremely stuffed. I had to nearly roll home, always a bad idea to go out for dinner completely starving. You always end up ordering far too much! I am now going to settle down to watch the X Factor to end the day.

How has your weekend been so far?

Bag lady

I have started to collect Kelly bags or as my mum calls them "Queens bags" on my travels around charity shops and boot sales. They are the first thing that I look out for, cameo jewellery comes a close second. I just love the fact that they are so lady like as well as being quite roomy. Perfect for carrying my junk around! I have no idea if any of them are actually "vintage" so if anyone has some infomation about the time period they are from I would be very grateful! I thought I would give you a little peak at my growing collection!I brought this one at a boot sale for £2.99 off a stall that was full of old-lady things. I wish I had hunted further but it has started to rain and I was shooed away by the mother. It is in the worse condition out of my collection but it is black which is its trump card. I like to tie a vintage scarf around the handle to jazz it up. To be honest I think the fact it is a little battered adds to it's charm. I like things with history.

For some reason it looks so much more battered in the photo than it actually is in real life! This was my first Kelly Bag brought from a charity shop. I think it was about £4. It is slightly out of shape but again I think it adds to it's charm. I am going to wear this to my graduation in October.
Another purchase from a charity shop. This one came with a matching suede purse. I don't actually think it has ever been used, it is in near perfect condition. A bargain at £6. I love the rectangle clutch knob as it is a little different from the round knobs. Take your minds out of the gutter ;)

Finally I brought this during my trip to Brighton from Snoopers Paradise in May. As a rule I don't like to spend more than £10 on a vintage bag so I splashed out when I paid £12 for this! I think it was well worth it though as it is a beauty! I am not sure if it's actually vintage as the label says Cavela. I think maybe it is a modern bag with a vintage twist.

Do you have a favourite style of bag that you just can't seem to stop buying?

Scarlett Woman

Outfit:
Black vest top: Primark
Black 3/4 length sleeved cardigan: Primark
Red paper bag waist maxi skirt: Primark
Faux black snakeskin tassel clutch bag: Next
Black faux suede wedges: New Look
Selection of wooden and straw bangles: Stolen from mum
Pearl cameo statement ring: Primark
Red plastic watch: Toywatch
Orange nail varnish: Nails Inc for InStyle
Red lipstick: Rimmel 080 Screamer

I originally brought this skirt especially for my holiday but had to take the labels off due to Mother Nature forgetting it was August. Thunderstorms, seriously? I didn't want to wear tights as it is still August and I could not go bare legs as I have had a serious issue with orange legs. My fake tan did not apply well and it is taking ages to scrub off. I love the paper bag waist on this skirt and although it looks orange it is actually more of a vibrant red I think. It i such a statement skirt and I think it works really well being toned down with black. I think I have a love affair with maxi skirts, they really suit every occasion. I love how they can dressed up or down and are perfect for work as they can look smart.

I went out for an Indian for my friends birthday last night and had a gorgeous chicken rogan josh thanks to Sarah's advice. I am trying to eat healthily as my holiday is only 2 weeks away but I really didn't feel like I missed out by having an healthy option. I felt so stuffed so it proved that I don't really need to order nann bread, sag aloo and onion bhajis as well as a curry. I am just being greedy! It was a fairly quiet evening as the boys had gone out the night before and didn't get home till 4am! On a Thursday! They were all feeling a bit delicate so we just finished off the night with a few drinks down the pub.

I am off out to a house party tonight as a few of my friends are off travelling on the 1st and one of their mum's is throwing them a going away party. One of them, my boyfriend's best friend, I have known since I was 16 so it will be very strange going on a night out and him not being there. I would never admit this to him but I think I will quite miss him. He is always constantly there whenever I go out. I know my boyfriend will be pining for him haha! It should be a really good get together tonight and I have got my bottles of cider ready!

I was very lucky to win Jennie's giveaway. I won some gorgeous Sawyer and Scout bracelets. I wore them down the pub on Thursday to show them off :) Thank you so much, I love them! The owl bracelet has to be my favourite.

Yuki A/W Press Event

I was lucky enough to be invited along to Yuki's press event (my first one as a blogger and not a journalist!!) where they showcased their A/W collection. I have to admit I have never brought anything from Yuki but I have seen the label numerous times in the flagship Topshop and admired from afar. They really have some beautiful things coming out, I especially adore the sheer shirts. Autumn features my favourite colour palette and Yuki didn't disappoint. Their clothing was a mixture of rust, olive, navy and cream.I love these three blouses. They would go perfectly with a pair of skinny jeans and skyscraper heels. I don't think I could ever tire of pussy bows.We all know I am a dress girl. They hide an multitude of sins, perfect for bottom heavy ladies like myself! The second dress is my favourite. As soon as I spotted it it just screamed Ascot to me. It will look perfect with nude heels and a matching nude clutch bag. My butterfly fascinator will help to finish it off.

Just look at all these gorgeous clothes!
We were treated very well as you can see! I can safely say that the cupcakes were delish. Thank you ever so much for inviting me Yuki, I had a lovely time nosing about and loved my goodie bag. It came with a free dress, I felt very spoilt!

I want to buy you something but I don't have any money

Outfit:
Brown t-shirt - Primark
Cream 3/4 cardigan - Primark
Cranberry lace skirt with belt - Primark
Nude court shoes- Primark

Walking advertisement for Primark!

This is another work outfit that I have found pictures of. I really like the colours in this, feels so autumn/winter which is my favourite season. Sunshine is overrated. I think I will just add brown tights to cover up the knobbly knees when it starts to get colder. The skirt was a bargain £12, I love it when things don't look like Primark. I think this has a River Island look about it? I really do not know what I will do when these shoes fall apart, kicking myself for not buying a few pairs. They are the perfect work shoes, go with everything!

Off to Clacton in a little while, in fact I should be getting ready... My boyfriend's uncle has a caravan down there and we often go for day trips when his whole family are away on a holiday. Looking forward to some chips by the seafront, I don't think anything else is acceptable if you go to the seaside.

Going to my first wedding reception tonight of people our age. This is really freaking me out as I am 22 but still feel like I am 16! Having been with my boyfriend for nearly 5 years, marriage is frequently mentioned by family members who react in horror when I say thanks but no thanks. At the moment I am more interested in buying my first Mulberry handbag and my boyfriends wants the new Ipad. Maybe this is why we suit?

By the way the title of this post is a Drums song which my boyfriend has decided now belongs to me as it sums me up haha! He knows me so well, I am constantly telling him this! Bring on my first wage packet!

I have so many blogs to comment on and comments to reply too. I will get through them next week I promise, please don't think I am being mean!

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Oh My Darling!

Since I have started work I have been struggling with my work wardrobe. I have about 12 outfits on rotate and have been trying to mix it up as much as possible. I don't like wearing my "normal" clothes to work. I feel like I have to have that distinction. Does anyone else feel like that?

Anyway I was contacted by Darling and asked to look at their selection of clothing. We all know I love a dress and these are no execption! They would all be perfect for work and the best thing is they are all in the sale. Must be a sign!

Darling April Dress - £41.97

Darling Maisie Dress - £38.64

Darling Sylvie Swirl Dress - £41.97Darling Sara Dress - £48.97

Darling Lottie Dress - £38.64

Maisie is a gorgeous dress, I think it might be my favourite. I love the lace detail, it looks so feminine. It would be a shame to cover it up with a cardigan. I can't help to be drawn to florals so naturally Lottie ticks all the boxes! Although Sylvie and Sara are summer dresses they would still look fab layered up with cardigans and tights. I am thinking grey tights to add something a little different? April is structured making it perfect for the working environment. It is just right for working in the city!

Which one is your favourite?

Don't leave your life in the hands of a rock and roll band

Outfit:
Leopard print peter pan collar: River Island via Ebay
Nude patent bow loafers: Primark
Topshop rustic gold bangle: Gift
Red plastic watch: Toywatch

I wore this to work on Friday. I love the little peter pan collar on it although it does seem a little trend overload with an exposed zip and the fact it is leopard print. I have started to wear my hair like this when it's hot. I have far too much hair at the minute, it seems to have grown so much over night. There is nothing worse than having long hair in rush hour on the tube when everyone is hot and sweaty. My new pet hate is having other peoples hair stuck to my arm...

Look at me posting twice in one week eh? Not really much to report. I did a bootsale today and made a grand total £3 after we took the £11 out we paid for the car. Not the most successful one. I suppose it is still £3 I never had and I sold some more junk.

Not really doing much this weekend, off to a my mum's friends 40th birthday tonight. My dad and boyfriend have refused to go, anyone else’s other half unsociable? My boyfriend is extremely sociable with his friends but does not want to know when he won't know anyone. I have given up making him go anywhere! Working tomorrow, doing a bit of overtime but might be going out for an Indian afterwards which will be nice!

What does everyone else have planned for their weekend?
