Yet another Glossybox review

I've been a subscriber to Glossybox since about September but I never really post about them because there are always so many going about and it can get a bit samey. But this month I thought I would test all the products rather then just show what I recieved as I always love reading reviews. The reason why this review is so late, the next Glossybox is due out soon! Also it will make me use them as i'm ashamed to admit that I've only probably used about 30% of all the things i've recieved. I have far too many lotions and potions!

1-2. Clarins Extra-Firming Day Cream and Clarins Extra-Firming Night Cream

I must admit I was a bit disappointed to recieve the Clarins as I was kind of hoping to get the nail varnish. But alas I didn't but I suppose that's the whole idea of a Glossybox, you never know what you're going to receive. I had always viewed Clarins as an older persons brand and the majority of people I know that use it tend to be around my mums age and the fact they were "extra-firming" didn't dispeal this stereotype. I don't think I need to start thinking about anti-winkle or firming products until i'm the wrong side of 25! But nevertheless I gave them a try and was very pleased with them! They have made my skin feel very lovely and soft. A little goes quite a long way in my opnion. To my nose they smell very "clean" and it's not at all an overpowering scent, sometimes this can be off-putting if it lingers on your skin. It will be a shame when they run out as there's no way I can afford the £46.50 and £48 price tags. However it has made me think that maybe I need to start investing in a night cream as I only mosturise in the morning.
3. Murad Skin Perfecting Primer

As I don't wear foundation I had never seen the point of wearing primer. I have been meaning to invest for one for my eyes though as my eye make-up never seems to last very well. Gem suggested Urban Decay which i'm still yet to buy. One day! I was pretty happy to recieve this to give it a go so I can find out if it really is worth investing in a primer! To be honest I didn't see what it brought to my make up as I only really wear make up when I have contacts in. Once a week if that. I didn't feel all clogged up like I do when I attempt to try foundation thankfully. Anyone else feel like they can't breathe in it? I can't say I thought the primer made my make up last longer nor did I look glowing haha! I am going to use it up though and maybe i'll fall in love!
4. Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner

Eyeko was a brand I had seen in Superdrug and on twitter but i've never actually taken the plunge to buy something from the company. I tend to stick to the same make-up brands and don't experiment. I wear very boring and basic make up! I loved the packaging and the pencil looks very asthically pleasing. But it's so mis-leading as the long silver end doesn't have any product in it at all making the eyeliner very small! Green is no usually a colour i'd pick but suppose we all have to venture out of our comfort zone! But I was pleasantly suprised by the colour, it actually looks really nice! Admittedly not that much different from my normal black one. The eyeliner has great staying power, I only had to re-apply one throughout the day. It's made me think maybe I could pull off other coloured eyeliner too!

5. First Aid Beauty body moistriser

I have moisturisers coming out of my ears after both Christmas and my birthday. But I always welcome another one! This mosituriser promises to be safe for sensitive skin and free from harsh chemicals. I suffer from quite dry skin and it's made worse if I don't put some mosturiser on after I come out the shower. I've been using this for about a week and it really has madde myself feel lovely and soft. The cream is lovely and thick and feels quite expensive. Nothing worse than a runny mosturiser which is why I tend to stay away from body lotion. The full size bottle costs £10 and I think i'm going to hunt it down in Boots come payday. I am usually a hardcore Palmers fan but sometimes you don't always want to smell like chocolate!

What did you think of your Glossybox if you recieved one?

Outfit:
Leopard print midi dress: Topshop
Black long sleeved cardigan: Primark
Thick black tights: Primark
Black heeled leather ankle boots: Topshop
Black short shaggy faux fur coat: Primark
Red plastic watch: Toywatch
Black glitzy statement ring: Primark

My birthday dresses seem to be doing the rounds, only have one more to show you after this! I absolutely love this dress, I have to stop myself from wearing it everyday. It so comfy but yet looks like you've made an effort. These boots are another Topshop purchase that never seem to be off my feet. I splashed out on them with my Christmas money although I still nearly had an heart attack when I had to hand over £70+. But they are without a doubt the best thing i've ever "invested" in, I can see myself still wearing them next winter and hopefully the winter after. Even if they did cause me to fall down the stairs in M&M world in front of a million tourists. Oh the shame...

Off to The Only Way is Blogging (TOWIB) today, little bit nervous to be honest. I am really looking forward to mingling though, always nice to meet people who share the same interests and everyone so far i've met has been absolutely lovely! If you're going tweet me and don't be afraid to come say hello! I don't bite! I tend to stare at people rather than approach them because i'm too shy so if you see a werido it's more than likely to be me! Catch me on twitter @sophiesophuk

Love is in the air

With Valentines Day just around the corner (seriously how is it February already, the years going far too quick!) the lovely people at Motel Rocks are holding a special flash discount to celebrate. Like we all need an excuse to buy something new eh? Simply enter the code LOVE20 at the checkout and you'll bag yourself 20% off. Amazing! Best hurry up as it runs out on the 14th!
They have some very pretty things in their Valentines section. How amazing is this underwear set? The print is amazing and I love that it's just so retro - right up my street! They have some really lovely dresses and playsuits that will be perfect for whenever not just for Feb 41th. I'm just a bit gutted that i'm skint as I have my eye on quite a few things!
Let me know if you buy anything!

I just want you to know who I am

Outfit:
Long sleeved navy and cream chiffon dress: Primark
Navy tights: Primark
Faux suede navy heels: Barretts
Nude envelope clutch: Asos
Floral statement ring: Primark
Coral nail varnish: Rimmel 60 seconds 430 Coralicious (gift from friend)

Another one of my birthday money buys. It reminds me a bit of a dress that was in Topshop before Christmas, it was a similar style but cost £50. This however was a bargain of £17. You can't really tell in the photos but it has buttons on the inside of the sleeves. Gotta love little the little details. Must admit this bag is one of the best things i've brought in a long time, goes with everything so expect to be getting sick of it soon! I'll be using it everytime I go out!

I wore it out last night for my friends birthday, we went into the next town for a few drinks and dancing. I must be getting old as I didn't recognise any music that was playing. I like a bit of Indie and pure cheese! I always feel like I have to be a less covered up if I go out anywhere other than London.I could never wear my birthday dress out dancing in the town I live in, I'd get an unbelievable amount of dodgy looks! I've never been that girl that wears tight bodycon dresses with cut outs and my boobs on show. Not even when I was 18. Think i've always dress a little bit too old for my age and conservative. This is my perfect clubbing dress - short but covered up!

Today shall be spent recovering in bed, have yet to get out of it, and ebaying my whole life. My bank balance is looking very sorry for itself recently and it's about time I did something about it! Going to have to venture downstairs soon though as my dear old dad is making me a bacon and egg sarnie! Perfect hangover cure!

What do you have planned for today?

Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984

Outfit:
Green polkda dot midi dress: Asos
Nude faux suede court shoes: Primark
Cream 3/4 length cardigan: Primark

This dress is one of my birthday money purchases in it's full glory. Thanks to Sarah who suggested it to me, she knows my style better than I do! She's always suggesting such beauties! I teamed it with a cardigan as it's really much more of a summer dress. A coat would have looked far too bulky. It's such a lovely dress, a tad more expensive than I usually would have spent given my current funds but you really can tell the difference in quality between this and a Primark number. Sometimes it pays to spend that little bit extra. I was perhaps a little overdressed for bowling but why should you only save your clothes for best?

A few snaps from my birthday night out on Saturday. Like I said on Sunday I did have a lovely time although it wasn't without it's drama. I booked the bowling at the wrong venue, completely my fault as I didn't read the club night correctly. I had a full on argument with the doorman who tried to make us pay extra and then had to sheepishly backtrack when I showed them the email. Not my smoothest moment! But still it was so nice to get together with all my favourite people. Now we've all practically graduated with full time jobs it's hard to fit nights in where everyone can come, a few still missed out but overall the gang was back together. As always too much alcohol was consumed and lots of belly laughs were had. Looking forward to another birthday night out for a friend next Friday!

A snapshot #8

001: I finally spent all my birthday money in Oxford Street. I headed straight to Topshop as I usually can't afford to part with my pennies in there. I did want to stay away from Primark as I can afford that usually but couldn't resist buying one dress. It looks like a topshop copy. Wins!

002 - 003: I was very lucky to win a piece of Little Nells. Penny really does make some gorgeous pieces and this Hamsa necklace is no exception. Just look how beautifully it came packaged. Thank you so much :) I already have my eye on this to go with my new white dress in the above picture and this gorgeous cross.

004: It always makes my day when I recieve a postcard through the post from my oldest (nearly 20 years of friendship!!) and dearest friends. She's honestly a star! This time she was travelling around India if you could't tell from the postcard! I don't think there's many places left for her to visit!

005: I went to the local pub for dinner to discuss dates with friends for our summer holidays! Ahh exciting, just need to do some serious saving now! I much prefer having picky bits for dinner than a main meal, one of the reasons that I love Christmas. All those buffets nomnomnom! I admit I did have Lasagne after but i'm starting Weightwatchers next week so I am getting all my favourites in!

006: A little sneak peak of my birthday outfit. I went out for my birthday last night and as a result I am feeling a little sorry for myself! We ended up at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes in Holborn, bit of a drama but i've got a special birthday post lined up. I had a good night, not quite sure i'd want to go there for birthdays as there's not enough dancing was involved for my liking. I'd go back again but just during the daytime. I'm recovering in my owl kigu and having a Harry Potter marathon with the boy. Bliss.

Motel Rocks Spring Lookbook

I recieved the Motel Rocks Spring Lookbook and fell in love with it. Bodycon dresses are not really my thing, if I was a size 8 i'd be all over them. But alas I am not. But playsuits and pencil skirts are! I don't think I would be brave enough to wear the playsuits bare-legged but I would be game with a pair of 150 denier tights! My favourite is the wine coloured lace playsuit. It just looks so girly and is such a pretty colour. I also adore the cut out back on the red playsuit, it will look beautiful with hair up in a topknot to show it off! I am really liking bralets with high waisted pencil skirts at the minute, it seems ladylike but with a bit of a edge. After all I don't want to dress too much beyond my time! The block coloured pencil skirt is a beauty!

All these pretty clothes are making me long for some milder weather, being frozen to the bone is kinda losing it's appeal.

Don't forget if you fancy making a sneaky purchase you can use the discount code at the side of my blog for 15% off :)

Which is your favourite outfit?

Gaga eat your heart out

I think my heart skipped a little when I read about the blogger competition Sarenza was running. The chance to become an ambassador for the brand and receive £150 worth of shoes a month? Count me in! This is my competition entry to win the opportunity of any shoe enthusiast’s lifetime.

To me shoes are all about making a statement. What's the point of blending in? You could have the most basic outfit and add a pair of jazzy shoes and voila. You instantly have an outfit that impresses more than a bloke in a Lamborghini. Yes I have those boring black court shoes that go with everything but I also have dozens of shoes that are so out there I can’t seem to find a single thing in the world to pair them with. Still that doesn’t stop me from pulling them out every now and again to stroke away to my heart’s content.

Now THESE are what you call a statement. They might make me wonder how the hell I would be able to balance once I have had a few glasses of rose but just look at them! Gaga would be drooling into her little cup and saucer! Never have black shoes looked so snazzy! These beauties will help you turn heads for all the right reasons.

In my ideal world I would pair the shoes with this beautiful white midi dress (hopefully making it mine come Wednesday), heaps of gold jewellery and a sleeveless leather jacket. In fact this outfit would be perfect for my birthday outing come Saturday. A girl can dream right?

001: Obviously the highlight of this week was my birthday. We are still eating the leftover food!

002: I have been hardcore shredding this week. Well four times which is better than none. I absolutely hate it but I am determined to shift some pounds so needs must. After I do it 2-3 days on a trot my legs are in such agony I struggle to walk down the stairs. Yep I really am that unfit!

003: It was my boyfriend's sister's birthday on Friday and we all popped out for a meal to celebrate. It's hard to believe she turned 20 as when I first started going round their house she was only 15. Time flies eh?

004. Popped to Brixton to see Ed Sheeran yesterday. He was really good live but in between songs he started to annoy me. I don't like being told when to sing along, I perfer to do it when I want! Brixton is a really nice venue, didn't realise how big it was.

005 - 006. Saturday was such a lovely day. We must have walked miles. After getting off at Monument we walked along the river to Somerset House to see a war journalism exhibition held by Sky News. It was good, very interesting. It was awful to see the London Riots played out again. Then we walked along the Strand past St Pauls, to Covent Garden where we stopped for a few much needed ciders in The Punch and Judy before settling for dinner in Leciester Square.

How has your week been?

Birthday gifts

Here are my birthday presents if you fancy a nose!

After lusting over the OPI gold shatter on various blogs my shoe queen friend surprised me with it! Shes such a darling! I'm going to try it out on my birthday outing! I can't wait to try it all the Soap and Glory make up too. The tote bag just about sums me up!

I also recieved a lovely pink scarf and a sparkly necklace from the lovely Sophie. Thanks so much, it was very kind of you!

I think I'm set up with Soap and Glory goodies for life, my friends and family know me so well! It's my favourite!

The boyfriend brought me the owl kigu along with the beautiful Tesor Paris bracelet and the Harry Potter boxset. He always does so well and has me down to a T!`

My best friend obviously knows me well as she brought me a bottle of Sourz and she's also treating me to see a show in the West End. Not sure what one yet but we are thinking Ghost? Has anyone seen it? Any good?

My wonderful nan treated me to the Daisy gift set. I literally have like 2 squirts left in my current bottle so this came just at the right time!

I was also lucky enough to recieve some money so cannot wait to blow that! It's currently burning a hole in my pocket and I'm meeting up with my friends after work on Wednesday to blow it all at Oxford Circus Topshop.

Birthday Girl

On Monday I turned 23 and it wasn't as scary as I thought. I had such a lovely day surrounded by my amazing family and friends. I was utterly spoilt and felt very lucky. I met my mum and nan for lunch and had my favourite noodle dish Yum Yum chicken. Yes it was just as delish as it looks! My dad whipped up the Hummingbird cupcakes, he's a bit of a dab hand in the baking department!

In the evening my mum put on one of her famous buffets where we end up still eating the leftovers days after. She always puts on the nicest spreads and the way it was demolished by family and friends showed they agreed! I'm not going out with friends until the end of the month. I have to choose payday as everyone is so skint after Christmas. Not that I mind as I get to drag my birthday out for two weeks!

A few snippets of my presents. This completely unflattering owl kigu was an amazing gift from my boyfriend. I absolutely love it even if it does make me look like a two-ton Tessa. In fact I am monging around in it now! My parents treated me to a beautiful Mulberry purse. It was a complete surprise and I can't stop sneaking a peak at it in my bag. It deserves a post of its own. I am going to do a birthday gift post in the next few days as I personally love seeing what other people got!

A massive thanks to everyone who wished me happy birthday!
