Zizzi's Sweet Pizza - say what?!

Last night I was invited to down to Zizzi to sample their new special dessert pizza - the first one they've launched. Apparently these bad boys are massive across the water. How I didn't have one whilst I was i NY i'll never know. It's drizzled in warm hazelnut chocolate sauce and topped with juicy strawberries and melted gooey marshmallows on a traditional crispy pizza base. It sounds like heaven eh? And it is! The moreish marshmallows were my favourite bit and really hit the spot paired with the almost caramelised strawberries. I was worried it would be a bit too sickly but I could easily have polished away one for myself - unfortunately I decided to share this with my boyfriend. Schoolboy error! If you have a sweet tooth, you won't want this dessert to end.

As for the rest of the meal, we both opted for a Rustica pizza which have the best bases out of the pizzas in my opinion. I plumped for Rustica Primavera - a delicious pesto, goats cheese, aubergine, artichokes, olives, rocket and mozzarella concoction. The very generous helping of pesto helped it go down a treat!

I'd just like to say a massive thank you to the staff at the Chelmsford branch who were all absolutely lovely!

Have you tried the sweet pizza yet? It's a must-try!

Going Loco

Dominos is up there as my favourite takeaway so I was excited to recieve an invite to a special Brazillian party to celebrate the launch of their new Canivale pizza Range introduced especially for the World Cup. Inspired by South American flavours, it includes two new pizzas and two new sides. It's on offer until 14th September.

They set the bar high with the delicious Mojitos, I may not have been able to stop at one or two... I had a feeling the pizzas were going to be just as good. As my boyfriend and I grabbed a table to watch the entertainment, we eagerly kept our eyes peeled to sample the pizzas.

After much thought and a hell of a lot of tasting we both decided the Fiesta came out on top. There was just something about the cheeky mojito drizzle alongside the chicken strips, red peppers, green peppers, red onions and a sprinkling of fajita spice. It was like a party in our mouth and we proceeded to have quite a few slices!

The slightly spicer Rio was perfect for those who prefer a kick. With pulled barbacoa beef, red onions, green peppers, red peppers and a tasty chipotle sauce to finish it off. Well worth splashing out for on Two for Tuesdays.

Thanks for the pizza Dominos, it was an absolute pleasure!

The England match today is the perfect time to tuck in - what are you waiting for? Give them a call!

Review: Pizza Pilgrims

After hearing stories about the drool-worthy pizzas sold out of the back of a pizza oven van I got excited. I got even more excited when I discovered they'd opened a restaurant in Dean Street, Soho. Food vans are all well and good but when you work during the week, they're awfully hard to get to!

I'm ashamed that it's taken me this long to try Pizza Pilgrims myself. It has been on my foodie list for an age and I finally managed to try it at the weekend. We got seating straight away as we opted for a late lunch about 2.30 ish and trotted downstairs to pursue the menu. I've slowly gone off meaty pizzas so opted for the tasty sounding Aubergine Parmagiana. The menu isn't massive but there's something for everyone. Plenty of meat and veggie ones with a few unusual ones should you be feeling adventurous.

Both the pizzas arrived promptly, my friend and I had barely got down to the juicy gossip before our friendly waiter appeared with this beauty below. The mozzarella was deliciously gooey and the tomato base was nice and tart. I loved the addition of the whole cherry tomatoes and the aubergines was perfectly soft. Nothing worse than coming across one that's too tough and chewy. The bottom of the base was slightly black but this added to it's flavour, made it more authentic! The dough had perfect consistency, neither too soggy or too crisp. It was a dream to pull apart! I could have eaten it twice over.

I'm already planning my next trip back! Have you ever been to Pizza Pilgrims?

Easy Peasy Weightwatchers pizza recipe

My all time favourite food is pizza. I can happily eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sadly it's not very weightwatcher's friendly. This is a great alternative and you can have whatever topping you like. I much prefer to load up on vegetables - Butternut Squash is my new favourite ingredient.

What you'll need:
1 pack of Weightwatchers tortillas depending on how many people you're feeding.
Allsorted vegetables - I used butternut squash, peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes.
30 grams of grated mozzarella
1 tablespoon of tomato puree

One pizza is 7 propoints.

001: Throw all the  chopped vegetables into a roasted tray. You can add some fry light if you want but in my experience the juice from the tomatoes is more than enough. Roast them for aroun 15-20 minutes.

002: While the vegetables are roasting, measure out a tablespoon of tomato puree. Spead it around the tortilla to the edges.

003: Spread the vegetables in which ever order you prefer.

004: Sprinkle the cheese on and stick in the oven at 200 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Make sure you keep an eye on it as it may take shorter because the oven's already been on for the roasted vegetables!

Ta-da! Serve with a side of salad to make for a more filling dinner. I just have it on it's own for lunch.  It's much more exciting than a boring sandwich. Let me know what combos you try!
